Student Graduation Speaker

Hello Class of 2013!

With a little over a month left until Graduation, we hope you all are excited for all the upcoming events for Seniors. Look out for emails and facebook events detailing some exclusive activities for your class to participate in before Commencement.

The Class of 2013 Commencement will be on Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 in the Convocation Center. The Ceremony will allow your class to get together, reminisce on the years spent at JMU, and look forward to a bright future as Alumni of the institution.

Currently, SGA is looking for a Student Graduation Speaker to give a 4 minute speech, introduced by our Student Body President, Matt Klein at the Commencement Ceremony. This is your chance to speak to your class before leaving James Madison University. The Honor of speaking during commencement involves an application and interview.

The following is the application: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/108432669/SGS-%20Application.docx

Please attach your speech to the application and turn it into the SGA Office (Taylor 203) by 5 p.m. on April 1st. The Student Graduation Speaker Committee will read through the applications and select finalists to go onto the interview phase, where finalists will read their speech in front of the committee on Sunday, April 7th.  From there, the Official Student Graduation Speaker will be chosen and will read their speech to the entire Class of 2013 during Commencement.

 Criteria:

You must be graduating this May.

The Speech cannot exceed 4 minutes in length.

You must be available April 7th in the afternoon for interviews.
