JMU’s Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony

It’s that time of year again! On Friday, December 6th, 2013, the 2015 Class Council will present JMU’s annual Tree Lighting ceremony on the Quad from 7-8pm! As the semester winds down, the air gets cooler, and final exams loom in the air, we do have one thing to look forward to besides Winter Break.

Since the event will occur the Friday before finals, we hope students will take advantage of this study break to come together with their classmates and have some fun before burrowing back into their books in the stacks of Carrier and Rose library.

Entertainment will feature several of JMU’s esteemed acapella groups including Noteoriety, Low Key, and Madison Project. Lyrics will be provided for attendees to join in the festivities and sing along. President Alger will also be present to share his good wishes to us all and join us in the festivities. The event will conclude with a unifying candle lighting before lighting the tree!

There will be refreshments for both those who require caffeine and those who do not. The 2015 Class Council and Office of the President will be providing a FREE coffee bar as well as hot chocolate, hot cider, and cookies. Who needs those long Starbucks lines in Carrier Library when delicious refreshments are only a few yards away?

We want to put every attendee in the holiday spirit, and have a last unifying event before we pack up our suitcases and head home for a long winter’s nap (or maybe that’s just me). Who knows, maybe Wilson Hall will even get into the wintery spirit….
