Sophomores

President: Collin Rusell
– Job Description: Work with the fellow class officers to help students better unify with the Class of 2014. We work together as a team to plan social and academic gatherings. We meet weekly to discuss new ideas and review the progress of our current projects. As a sophomore one of our main responsibilities is putting on Ring Premiere which is held in the spring.
Most effective campaign tactic: Plain and simple: get to know as many people as you can. Talking to other freshman outside of a dorm on a nice spring day is a great way to discuss how you feel you would benefit the position.

Vice President: Quinn Wilkinson
– Job Description: Sophomore year is a balance between educational and social events for your class, with the biggest social event being Ring Premiere.  Ring Premiere takes place in March and is the release of the design for your class ring.  At the beginning of the year you will be in charge of selecting a ring premiere committee who you will work with throughout the entire process, and everyones role is neutral on the ring premiere committee except for the selected “chair”.  However as vice-president relating to SGA events, you will work on the internal arrangements.
Most effective campaign tactic: For campaigning, try to reach as many students as possible! Reaching out to dorms can really help.

Treasurer: Liz Ramirez
– Job Description: I worked with the rest of Sophomore Class Council to assemble a 12-person Ring Premiere Committe. We worked with that committee for the rest of the year to plan the Ring Premiere event. To do this we worked with a Balfour (the ring company) to design the class ring, advertise, and put on the event. In addition to Ring Premiere, I work with my other officers to design and sell Class of 2014 t-shirts, put on educational events, and help with other class council events.
Most effective campaign tactic:  The best way to campaign is to just meet as many people as possible. Go to different clubs and introduce yourself, or just hang out on the commons and talk to people.

Secretary: Alicia Pettis
– Job Description:  I am in charge of taking minutes during Sophomore Class meetings. I also manage all outside contact with other organizations and administrators, request rooms for events, and run the twitter account. Finally, as a Senator, I am able to vote and voice my opinions on the bills that pass through Senate.
Most effective campaign tactic: Campaigning is difficult when your target voter is just one class at JMU. Try and focus your campaigning in areas that your class would mostly likely see you. Some examples would be social media sites like Class groups or in Residence Halls. Good luck to all :)
