President: Rheanna Martino
– Job Description: I organize meetings between the rest of the senior class officers and myself in order to plan and organize all of the things that happen every semester. As a whole, the senior class council and I work extensively with groups such as the Alumni Office, The Duke Club, the President’s Office and various others in order to carry out events that are both fun and educational for the members of our class. Ranging from things such as Senior Countdown Nights to athletics events, educational outreaches and t-shirt sales, there are endless kinds of events that we as a whole program. And, as President, I sit on the University Commencement Committee in order to have a student voice in the planning of all the graduation ceremonies
–Most effective campaign tactic: I made sure to actually go out and talk to my peers as opposed to just letting them read my platform. The most important thing you can offer a group you are leading is making them feel valued and appreciated, so getting out there and engaging them is a great way to show your peers that you truly care about them and not just a title.
Vice President: Grant Bigman
– Job Description: I meet weekly with other class council members, and occasionally with the Alumni and Duke Club Offices. I also talk to third party companies about partnering with the senior class council on events or on donations.
–Most effective campaign tactic: I used a Facebook event!
Treasurer: Danielle Suchar
– Job Description: I work with the other class officers on planning events for the senior class. We get together at least once a week and plan events that we think our class would appreciate. I don’t work much with money, I look over the budget to make sure that we have enough money to do the things we want.
–Most effective campaign tactic: Running for senior class treasurer was a last minute decision but I think that making a Facebook event for yourself and putting it as your status is very effective. I believe that is the fastest and most effective way of letting people know who you are and what you are running for.
Secretary: Erin Brooks
– Job Description: Take Notes During Meetings, Send e-mails to whomever we need to contact for events, etc.
–Most effective campaign tactic: My decision to run for class council was entirely last minute, so all I could do was tell all of my friends to vote for me and create a Facebook group with Danielle.
